1-1 interview practice is designed to give your child guidance and support through the interview process. Children are guided through the usual types of questions they may be given and how to answer in full sentences with a golden thread throughout. Children gain confidence knowing the types of questions they may be asked and how to be able to answer these questions. Interview practice at Yellowbird is not about telling children what to say but about working with their answers and how to improve on them.
Private sessions include 50 minutes of interview skills and practice with 10 minutes extensive feedback to parents and your child.
These sessions will be hosted by James Kelly.
Yellowbird’s Director of Management and Operations, James has worked for the company for over 7 years. From running workshops and Sunday sessions to hosting group and 1-1 interview preparation, James has a wealth of experience in supporting children through the important interview process across a range of ages.
Before moving to join Yellowbird Education full time, James worked for nearly 15 years in both the state and independent sectors, and most recently was Assistant Head Pastoral and Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) at Falcons School in Putney. Here, he worked as part of the Senior Leadership Team to support pupils’ applications and transitions into some of London’s top day schools and a range of boarding schools.
James knows how to draw the best out of children, enabling them to shine in an interview setting and show off their best selves. A firm believer that happy children learn best, James is passionate about underpinning the senior school application process with quality pastoral care for children, and empathetic and pragmatic support for parents.
